New Horizons of Northwest Florida, Inc.
is a  local organization that was originally established in 1942 as "The Northwest FL Crippled Children's Association" to serve polio victims.  The American Legion Auxiliary, Unit #33, saw a need and responded by starting a home and has been a continued supporter ever since.

From the beginning, the organization has been serving developmentally and physically challenged people in our community. These services have grown to include habilitation training by licensed occupational, physical and speech therapists –  all personalized to the needs of each client.

New  Horizon's  24-hour staff consists of RNs, LPNs, Qualified Mental Retardation   Professionals, a Social Worker, Direct Care and Auxiliary staff.

In 1980, the established Crippled Children’s Home on Avery Street was relocated to its present  location, Northview  Community, 10050 Hillview Drive, Pensacola, FL, 32514.

Since then, with the community’s help, New Horizons has been able to provide two group homes, Vera Manor Group Home, a home for non-ambulatory clients and Kingsfield Group Home, a home for ambulatory clients.  Each home is licensed for up to seven developmentally/physically challenged adults.  In 2008, the Emerald Coast Workshop (day program - Monday thru Friday) was relocated to its present location to help meet the individual needs of this growing population.
